Rue de Vin was established in 2010 on a gently sloping 3.7-hectare site along the Chikumagawa River, transforming a former abandoned apple orchard into productive vineyards. Founded by Hideaki Koyama, who honed his skills in France, Yamanashi, and Azumino, the winery oversees both viticulture and winemaking in Tomi City. Despite being relatively new, Rue de Vin produces high-quality wines from meticulously tended vineyards, including richly flavored Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, plus elegant Merlot wines noted for their warm roundness. The winery features a weekend café offering seasonal dishes paired with their wines and supports aspiring vintners through hands-on training and wine schools. Committed to revitalizing abandoned farmland sustainably while avoiding excessive pesticides, Rue de Vin aspires to transform this region into Japan's "Golden Hill," inspired by Burgundy's Côte d'Or.
