Manns Wine Komoro Winery integrates Manns Wine's expertise from grape cultivation through bottling to produce premium-class wines in Nagano Prefecture, an area characterized by low rainfall, abundant sunshine, and significant daily temperature variation. Beginning contract grape cultivation in 1971, Manns Wine recognized Ueda and Komoro cities as ideal terroirs for viticulture. Despite Japan's generally rainy climate and differing soils from Europe, they embrace these conditions to craft high-quality wines unique to Japan. Their premium "Solaris" wines, made from 100% domestically grown grapes, embody this philosophy through careful vineyard selection that matches grape varieties to suitable sites. The flagship "Solaris Higashiyama Cabernet Sauvignon" exemplifies this approach, sourced exclusively from limited vineyards in Ueda's Shiota Plain at 550 meters elevation on south-facing gentle slopes—considered optimal terroir for this variety.
