Kusunoki Winery vineyard
🍇 Vineyard (1/2)

Located in Hitakihara, an alluvial fan in Suzaka City with excellent drainage ideal for high-quality wine grapes, Kusunoki Winery represents founder Shigeyuki Kusunoki's bold career transition. After 20 years as a salaryman, Kusunoki studied viticulture and winemaking in Australia before returning to his hometown in 2004 to start agricultural life. Beginning with rented land planted to Merlot and Chardonnay, he released his first vintages through contract winemaking in 2006, expanded to eight wines annually by 2009, and obtained his winemaking license in 2011 for in-house production. Focusing on healthy grapes suited to northern Shinshu's climate, the winery minimizes pesticides and chemical fertilizers while employing grass cultivation without herbicides, actively expanding vineyards to craft elegant, high-quality wines that pair beautifully with Japanese cuisine.
