Established in 2017 by Masahiro Inagaki on family land in Kita-Ono, Inishe-no-sato Winery sits on the historic Nakasendo route—the first post town after crossing Utou Pass from Shiojiri-juku. The name combines the French word "initie" (beginning) with the Japanese word for "ancient times," reflecting both innovation and heritage. Originally a chef who ran Brasserie Node Vin in Shiojiri, Inagaki's passion for winemaking led him to plant wine grapes in 2006. After graduating from Shiojiri Wine University's first class and gaining experience through contract winemaking, he launched the winery under Shiojiri's special wine district system. His wines express the distinct character of Ono compared to neighboring Kikyogahara and are served at his own restaurant, creating a complete culinary experience rooted in this historically unique area where northern Ono belongs to Shiojiri City and southern Ono to Tatsuno Town.
