Located in South Shinshu's Ina Valley, blessed with excellent drainage and abundant sunlight ideal for fruit cultivation, Mashino Wine originated from an apple processing cooperative founded in 1987 by five local fruit growers. Established as Shinshu Mashino Wine Co., Ltd. in 1991, this small-scale winery gained reputation for sourcing apples, pears, and wild mountain grapes from local farmers while producing an innovative, diverse product lineup. Concurrently with the winery's founding, they began cultivating classic wine grape varieties like Chardonnay, Merlot, and Shinano Riesling in their own vineyards on east-facing slopes at 700 meters elevation. Their wines include "Excellent Chardonnay," "Shinano Riesling," and the balanced red blend "Mashino Rouge." Alongside the rare "Excellent Yamabudo," made from Japan's native wild mountain grape, these wines are recognized under Nagano Prefecture's appellation system for their quality. Beyond wine, they produce diverse single-variety juices available for tasting and purchase at their direct shop.
