Founded in 1911 when Goichi Hayashi settled in Kikyogahara to cultivate fruit trees, Goichi Wine pioneered European grape cultivation in the region. By 1919, Hayashi began growing wine grape varieties, eventually succeeding in establishing Merlot vines that helped elevate Kikyogahara's reputation as a distinguished wine region. Today, guided by the philosophy "good wine starts with good grapes," the winery manages 7 hectares of estate vineyards plus 5 hectares at higher altitude, supplemented by contracted local growers. Kikyogahara's warm days and cool nights allow grapes to mature slowly, yielding wines with balanced acidity and concentrated, complex fruit flavors. The winery's mission remains delivering wines that express Kikyogahara's unique natural character, each bottle imbued with distinctive life for those who appreciate and love fine wine.
