Originally from Sapporo, Honma worked in medical technology while pursuing his passion for wine through extensive domestic and international winery visits. These inspiring travels eventually led him to relocate to Niki in 2014, with a vision of creating something special in Hokkaido's extraordinary natural environment. He began grape cultivation the following year and realized his dream by opening his own winery in 2020.
During his medical technology career in Sapporo, Honma's extensive winery visits exposed him to diverse wines and winemaking philosophies, gradually nurturing his aspiration to craft wines in Hokkaido's unique terroir. In 2015, he and his wife relocated to Niki, where they acquired abandoned farmland and undertook extensive development to establish vineyards perfectly suited to the natural conditions and ideal south-facing exposure.
'Domaine Bless represents much more than just a winery,' Honma explains with evident passion. 'We've created comprehensive facilities where guests can enjoy exceptional dining and comfortable accommodation while surrounded by the beauty of our vineyards. Our goal is to offer visitors not only our deep passion for wine, but everything we ourselves wished for during our travels as wine enthusiasts—peaceful spaces for contemplating vast vineyard views, quality accommodation, all those special touches we dreamed about. We're gradually bringing each of these visions to life,' he shares, building anticipation for the exciting developments ahead.
